View allFrequently asked questions
Do I need a visa for Thailand?
Nationals of more than 90 countries enter visa-free for up to 60 days for tourism. Your passport must be valid for at least six months.
When should I visit Thailand?
November to March is the cool dry season and suits Bangkok, the north and the Andaman coast alike. April is very hot but brings the Songkran festival.
How do Thailand’s two coasts differ?
The Andaman side (Phuket, Krabi) is best November to April; the Gulf side (Koh Samui) is best February to September. Between them, Thailand offers good beach weather almost year-round.
Is getting around Thailand easy?
Very. Domestic flights are frequent and inexpensive, and trains and coaches are good. We usually combine domestic flights for long legs with private vehicles for short ones.
What should I know about temple etiquette?
Cover shoulders and knees, remove shoes before entering, and never point your feet towards a Buddha image. We brief guests in advance and carry cover-ups when needed.
