Japan
A thousand years of tradition, next to the future.
AI summary
Japan runs on contrast: Kyoto’s temples beside Tokyo’s neon, some of the world’s most refined cooking, and a Shinkansen network that crosses the country in hours. Cherry blossom (late March to early April) and autumn colour (November) are the two peaks and need booking well ahead.

View allFrequently asked questions
Do I need a visa for Japan?
Around 70 nationalities enter visa-free for up to 90 days. Others, including Vietnamese passport holders, must apply in advance through an authorised agency; processing usually takes 5–8 working days.
When is cherry blossom season?
Late March to early April in Tokyo and Kyoto, later further north. Hotels sell out early — book six to nine months ahead.
Is the Japan Rail Pass worth it?
It pays off if you take several long Shinkansen legs within 7–14 days. For a Tokyo–Kyoto–Osaka loop, point-to-point tickets are usually cheaper. We cost both options for you.
Are cards accepted in Japan?
In cities, yes, but many small restaurants, shrines and local buses remain cash-only. Always carry some yen.
How does a ryokan differ from a hotel?
A ryokan is a traditional inn with tatami floors, futon bedding, hot-spring baths and a kaiseki dinner. We usually place one or two ryokan nights between hotel stays.
