Azerbaijan

The Land of Fire on the Caspian.

Azerbaijan sits between Europe and Asia: Baku with the walled Icherisheher and the Flame Towers, the mountain village of Khinalug, the Ateshgah fire temple and the eternal flame at Yanar Dag.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get the Azerbaijan e-visa?

Apply online through the ASAN Visa portal, about USD 25, issued in three working days for a single 30-day entry. You only need your passport and a photo.

How far is Baku from the other sites?

Sheki is about 4.5 hours by road, Gabala 3.5, Gobustan just one. Sheki deserves an overnight rather than a day trip.

Can Azerbaijan be combined with Georgia?

Yes. Baku–Tbilisi runs by road or a 12-hour night train, and many travellers continue to Armenia. We arrange the full Caucasus circuit.

What is at Gobustan?

Azerbaijan holds roughly half the world’s mud volcanoes. Gobustan also has UNESCO-listed prehistoric rock carvings, and works as a day trip from Baku.

V Vương Thị Hồng · Family Trip Việt Nam A good trip, though the drive to Sheki is long for older travellers.
